Supply Chain Manager

Upjohn Global Supply Plant Planning

This position is responsible for overseeing and directing all supply chain management and related activities for tolling sites in support of Upjohn Global Supply. Working in partnership with substantial contribution Virtual Site Operation Teams (VSOT), Contract Manufacturers' supply chain management, API & Brand Supply Leaders and Operations, the position will utilize excellent analytical & critical thinking skills in the planning and reconciling of multiple tolled API and Finished Good. The Supply Chain Manager will have the key responsibility to co-ordinate and support smooth and efficient operation of supply chain processes to ensure customer satisfaction and a cost-effective supply chain. The role requires a highly motivated self-starter, possessing the ability to work virtually and independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities. As a recognised subject matter expert, coaches' other using own relevant experience to enhance their learning and capabilities.

Main accountabilities:

Area: Supply Planning

  • The functional subject matter expert and responsible for the execution of all product specific supply chain activities in the Virtual Site Operations Team (VSOT).

  • Provide planning, procurement, logistics, customs support and oversight for all assigned products.

  • Establish strong working relationships with tolling sites and external suppliers (Local Contract Manufacturing Organization) to attain optimal levels of production output, minimize costs while adhering to agreed upon production schedules, thereby delivering superior levels of customer service.

  • Develop and provide tolling site supply performance metrics to VSOT for CM Scorecards in order to track and identify CM performance trends related to customer service.

  • Supply assurance - monitor and track supply outlook including supply issues resolution Inventory management and deployment.

  • Participate and collaborate closely within the Virtual Site Operation team (VSOT) on supply/demand changes, pricing changes, vendor/customer issue resolution, contractual issues, allocations etc.

  • Monitor and track supply outlook including supply issues resolution.

  • Develop and update a rolling 24 months master schedule based on demand forecasts, available capacity, inventory policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure global inventory management policies and processes are adhered to.

  • Manage allocation for short supply products by collaborating closely with the respective above site API Supply Planning Lead (ASL) and Brand Supply Leads (BSLs) on allocation proposal and inform the allocated quantities to the customer.

  • Lead and support inventory transition planning for new product transfer projects.

  • Maintain regular contact with the logistics centres and global planning to resolve demand and supply issues.

  • Through collaboration with key stakeholder, accountable for driving continuous improvements in supply chain processes, establishing meeting performance objectives and operational changes.

  • Work on continuous improvement and streamline procedures and processes to be used by the team and secure that processes are documented.

  • Create and sustain an improvement culture by actively stimulating and supporting Operational Excellence initiatives.

  • Lead and facilitate the implementation of various projects and initiatives that impact the supply chain team.

  • Collaborate with all other teams within (Intercompany Operations Customer Service, logistics, transport, customs etc.) and outside Upjohn Global Supply to assure supply and improve efficiency of processes.

  • Flexibility on daily working hours, given the position's workload variability and interaction with stakeholders in other time zones (Asia, US, EU).

  • Possibility and flexibility to accept reports direct or indirect reports in the future

  • Travel may be required from time to time (up to 20%). Area: Inventory Management

  • Verify and review toll reports received in view of bill of materials (BOM) and standard consumption.

  • Reconcile tolling quantity, calculate, post and review resulting MUVs and P&L entries monthly.

  • Make the tolled inventory reconciliation sheet for audit purposes, analyze tolling inventories and take corrective action as needed

  • Collect, consolidate, verify and communicate forecasted API volumes per article to be used in the operational plan (budget),

  • Generate and review the API demand forecast and inventory targets to detect important deviations from the information used for the operational plan (budget).

  • Update article information with new/changed BOM information, or provide update BOM information to the relevant support function and monitor and verify timely and correct set-up.

  • Monitor current and projected inventory of tolled materials (RSM + API ) at contract manufacturers, to detect potential issues, slow moving, overstocking and unavailability situations and initiate/change action as necessary.

  • Review and management of slow moving and distressed inventory

  • Collaborate with the Ops lead and finance team to review and mitigate any distressed inventory.

  • Work with Ops and finance in setting budget inventory targets for their respective portfolio Area: Unique Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the progress and integration of new colleagues (mentorship)

  • Through collaboration with key stakeholder, accountable for driving continuous improvements in supply chain processes, establishing and meeting performance objectives and operational changes.

  • Lead New Product launch planning and execution

  • Review and manage slow moving and distressed inventory

  • Subject Matter Expert ("SME") for one or more systems and processes related to GES supply chain planning (e.g. E1, VMR, SCD, EAH, SAP ECC / APO, etc.).

  • Owner of (a) selected ES Standard Operating Procedure(s) ("SOP" + work instructions) in the Supply Chain Management Area.

  • Lead yellow belt projects to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency (Kaizen Activities)

  • Create and sustain an improvement culture by actively stimulating and supporting Operational Excellence initiatives.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Level of education : Minimum Masters or MBA degree preferred (Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain management, Trade or Management) or equivalent relevant experience. APICS Certification a plus.

Experience : Minimum 10 years working experience in a Supply Chain environment; Minimum 5 years' experience in the planning environment of a production plant, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in Materials Management is an added value

Languages : Japanese (Native), Fluent in English (both spoken and written), other languages are an added value.

Other qualifications :

  • Excellent understanding and experience with production planning and inventory management optimization strategies

  • Knowledge and understanding of planning tools and related reporting tools (Business Intelligence Tools)

  • Strong Knowledge in SAP (and add-on modules such as APO) is an advantage.

  • Strong skills in MS Office┬« Suite, especially Excel, are required. Usage of MS Access is an asset.

  • APICS training certification preferred.
