Pfizer Technical Expert, Solutions Preparation Group in St. Louis, Missouri

ROLE SUMMARY

The T4 position in the Solutions Preparation group is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the group. This includes ensuring that all solution and media requests are fulfilled on time, working with the group to solve issues surrounding formulation, shipping, manufacture, etc., and increasing the efficiency of the group overall. The T4 will be expected to work on the floor in the solutions prep group preparing solutions and medias as well as providing direction to the other colleagues.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily preparation of solutions and medias for the Chesterfield site.

  • Determine priority of requests, print out formulation sheets from eSolutions, and assign work to solutions prep colleagues.

  • Organize and coordinate shipments of solutions and medias to other sites as required.

  • Ensure formulations are entered into eSolutions after preparation.

  • Troubleshoot solution and media issues as they arise, and implement long-term fixes as needed.

  • Communicate completion of requests, solution and media issues, and shipping issues to customer groups as needed.

  • Ensure smooth transition of work from 1st to 2nd shift.

  • Provide daily on-floor supervision to solutions prep colleagues, addressing issues to ensure completion of all requests on time.

  • Increase efficiency of the solutions prep group through a thorough review of daily practices and implementation of solutions to fix common issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10+ years in a manufacturing or laboratory setting. This can be in a chemical plant, biologics pilot plant, clinical manufacturing plant, development lab, etc., or any combination thereof.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Excellent time management and communication skills, especially with customer groups.

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time.

  • Proven ability to supervise junior colleagues and act as a positive influence for change.

  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software programs, or equivalent.

  • Ability to communicate needs to the senior scientist responsible for advancing the group's sphere of influence, and implementing new technologies in the group as developed by the senior scientist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of how to calculate and prepare basic buffer solutions.

  • General chemistry background (e.g. understanding of Henderson-Hasselbalch equations, conductivity, and osmolality).

  • Knowledge of maintenance and calibration of pressure-rated tanks, large scales, heat exchangers, and water systems.

  • Experience in a GMP environment.
