This position is responsible for implementation, development, instantiation and adoption of eSource strategies. This position will report to the Global eSource team, and partner with Business Technology, Data Management and other business stakeholders to ensure related activities are fulfilled and business process is developed with data integrity according to defined requirements and timelines. This role is responsible for the implementation and management of Electronic Source (eSource) related strategies throughout Pfizer UK. The position works independently on assigned projects within the eSource team, a division of Information Management. The role will be responsible for providing insight into new and ongoing projects within the overall initiative. This role requires balancing the engagement of a variety of stakeholders and customer groups to ensure study teams are enabled to consume eSource, while maintaining business processes that support eSource consistently delivering the highest quality product with the lowest regulatory risk. Consideration of technologies allied and parallel to the use of electronic medical record data would also be required.

This role demands the ability to lead multiple projects and liaise with business stakeholders and technical groups to provide/review impact assessments of complex business requirements. Collaborate with teams to lead business and technical changes which include the identification and improvement of processes and applications to mitigate risk and impact. Work both autonomously on assigned work items, as well as being a member of a strongly interactive team.

* This role can be based at either our Kent site or Tadworth in Surrey. We may also consider part remote based part office based for the right candidate *


Skill set of potential candidates must include experience with process development and successful history of project execution and delivery, as well as the following areas:

  • Support multiple initiatives in a mixed matrix environment with cross functional teams

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Document processes in development and compare/contrast to existing processes; identifying areas of potential risk/optimization and communicating this to leadership and following through to solution

  • Work independently and in cross functional teams

  • Assume an active role in team's deliverables, tracking progress and taking timely action to ensure that work meets delivery timeframe and quality requirements.

  • Participate in initiatives to standardize elements of eSource across Pfizer's vendor panel

  • Interact as directed with Business/Research Units to identify specific needs for eSource support.

  • Engage external resources as required to develop group eSource knowledge

  • Define and recommend solutions to complex operations' issues and communicate these solutions to the other eSource teammates

  • Maintain a collaborative program of continuous improvement within the organization

  • Participate in development of solution test strategies and author/execute user acceptance testing during system releases to ensure high quality of systems

  • Critically think and understand abstract clinical strategy, draw conclusions of their potential impact upon patient-based technologies, e-Source and explore strategic approaches to solving issues in cooperation with study teams and team members

  • Develop written and oral presentations, report-outs and manuscripts/white paper


  • Degree from an recognized University

  • Knowledge of the UK Health Care system and the health informatics environment

  • Knowledge of UK-specific regulation and considerations about the use of clinical data for research

  • Knowledge about the different stakeholders involved in building up the capacity for the use of clinical data for research in the UK

  • High level understanding of pharmaceutical industry data management

  • Business analysis skills in the Pharmaceutical or Biomedical industry

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of business and technical liaison tasks.

  • Ability to interface/negotiate with both customers and technical support to triage and resolve issues in a multi-application environment

  • Detail-oriented to ensure quality of work under minimal supervision and review.

  • Knowledge of CDISC, HL7, ISO and other relevant standards

  • Demonstrated customer relationship and team collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a cross-functional environment.

  • Project management skills

  • Understanding of computer systems lifecycles, as well as the clinical trial process

  • Team player with proven oral and written communication skills, with the ability to self-motivate on assigned sub-projects and willing to provide original thinking

  • Adaptable and able to work with study teams with disparate levels of technical experience

  • Preferred: Understanding of Agile methodology

  • Preferred: Familiarity with business process re-engineering and implementation planning
