Pfizer Logistics Manager in Rocky Mount, North Carolina

ROLE SUMMARY

The Logistics Manager leads and directs the activities of all distribution functions including shipping, receiving, warehousing and control of materials while developing strategies, policies, procedures, and overall team to create a world class distribution group. Manages inventory and establishes controls to ensure plant is operating at the highest level of performance based on key performance metrics. Develops the operating budget for the distribution and receiving department and manages the areas within the financial guidelines established.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the activities of all functions involved in the warehousing and control of materials from the receipt of replenishment needs to the delivery of the finished product into finished goods inventory or delivery of products to the customer(s).

  • Review each department's organization and assure effective utilization of personnel, space, equipment and time.

  • Select, assign, train, measure, counsels, and develop staff; develop of a succession candidate.

  • Manage off-site warehouse facilities which can exceed 500,000 square feet with distances up to 10 miles from main site operations.

  • Assure that all plant activities work to the appropriate urgency and priorities in fulfilling the manufacturing plan as well as participate in the development of department policies, procedures, and strategies for profitable management. Positively influence change and employee engagement

  • Maintain a level of inventory accountability and accuracy complaint to cGMP directives

  • Maintaining clearly written and updated SOP's with the operation

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or other Technical Degree

  • Must have 10+ years supervisor or managerial experience in materials management, production planning and control, materials control, purchasing, warehousing and distribution or managerial positions in engineering, manufacturing or experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 5+ years supply chain with specific experience in large scale distribution centers

  • Strong experience in pharmaceutical and medical devices preferred

  • Proven experience using Lean and Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.

  • Experience with SAP and HK systems or equivalent inventory management systems

  • Ability to realign priorities for transport, receiving, and shipping.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills both verbal and written

  • Must support the site safety initiative and ensure participation from all reporting employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Supply Chain or Logistics

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Walking, climbing stairs, responding to visual warning indicators, responding to audible warning indicators.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Fast-paced logistics operations environment. Stand for up to 2 hours, sit for up to 4 hours, twist at waist 1 time per hour, use a computer terminal 6 hours per shift, work around moving equipment, work with chemicals, work in the vicinity of microwave or rf equipment.
