ROLE SUMMARY

The Director, Global Science HR Business Operations will provide comprehensive business support to the SVP, Global Science HR. This includes coordinating or leading operational and strategic HR projects across the Worldwide Research & Development and Medical (WRDM), Global Product Development (GPD), and Chief Patient Office (CPO) organizations, while ensuring alignment across HR. As a result, the role requires a working knowledge of HR principles as well as insight into the priorities, markets and brands of the Global Science businesses. The Director will be a member of the Global Science HR leadership team and will be responsible for contributing to the effective and efficient operations of the LT and of the HR team overall.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take the lead in assisting the SVP in coordinating activity across Global Science HR, plan and organize meetings/events, facilitate dialogue as needed and follow-up on agreed upon actions with the accountable colleagues.

  • Assist in preparing presentations, briefing documents and talking points for the SVP.

  • Review and strategically prioritize incoming materials for SVP review.

  • In partnership with SVP's Admin Assistant, strategically manage access to time on the SVP's calendar.

  • Manage requests for information, soliciting input from HR leads as needed.

  • Lead Global Science HR projects or act as point of contact representing Global Science HR, either alone or in partnership with others.

  • Proactively collaborate with key stakeholders to anticipate and resolve issues or potential conflicts impacting the Global Science HR organization.

  • Periodically represent SVP at meetings as a deputy.

  • Communication is also a key skill to have. The individual should be able to identify where things aren't working, and have the ability to communicate this, as well as outline a recommendation on how to make things better.

  • Manage Global Science HR budgets.

  • Identify ways that we are being efficient with our dollars but still investing in ourselves as a team and growing our skills and capabilities while supporting the business.

  • Lead special projects (e.g. major M&A, large organizational restructuring, operating plan, communication plans, etc.) to ensure deadlines and obligations are met to an excellent standard

  • Oversee the relationship with the Global Science chiefs of staff and strategy leads to ensure alignment and collaboration

  • Oversight of all analytics produced in support of WRD and GPD HR activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 5-10 years of progressive business experience, preferably with HR and/or Global Science Pharma experience

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Strong ability to develop credibility and influence at all organizational levels

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent track record as a team player with the ability to lead in a matrixed environment

  • Anticipates what needs to get done and takes the initiative and can work independently

  • Comfort with ambiguity

  • Strong discretion and trustworthiness in dealing with confidential information and situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree preferred
