Pfizer Operational Excellence Specialist in McPherson, Kansas
The mission for the Operational Excellence team is to "Inspire a best-in-class culture of continuous improvement that empowers colleagues and enables processes to function efficiently and effectively". This position is accountable for helping deliver that mission for the site.
The Operational Excellence Specialist will report to Operational Excellence Manager. This Operational Excellence Specialist role is part of the Operational Excellence organization, and will be heavilly involved with the deployment of IMEx, Lean Management System elements, and Method 4 throughout the McPherson Site.
The role will also involve Six Sigma responsibilities such as deploying the Pfizer Human Performance Methodology, Root Cause Analysis, and Method 1, 2, and/or 3.
The role is expected to support the identification and the leadership of strategic process improvements and waste reduction projects of varying size and complexity in any of the functional areas of the site.
The Operational Excellence Specialist should facilitate Business Performance Metrics from a business holistic strategy deployment approach, including the monitoring process, trend analysis and improvement plan and actions.
This role will work closely with the Operational Excellence Leadership for the strategic development of Continuous Improvement Culture, in alignment with organization's standards.
Act as a change agent who is dedicated to inspiring positive change for the site through their work.
Support the education of site colleagues in Lean and Six Sigma principles through coordinating, leading/facilitating classes, projects, workshops, and coaching/mentoring.
Coach/facilitate/lead project teams, assist in OpEx strategy definition, solve problems, and implement solutions to improve operational performance.
Contribute to a Zero Defects culture through advocating the use of Lean Six Sigma methodologies during day to day activities.
Support strategic proposals, progress updates and presentations to all levels of the site organization, as well as corporate functions.
Support the vision of every colleague, every day improving their work processes through IMEx and other related OpEx programs
Facilitate and or participate in cross functional teams of Lean and Six Sigma improvement projects linked to Site business needs
Leverage cross-site for improvement activities.
Work with the OpEx Leader to further develop the thinking around application of Lean and Six Sigma principles
Lead, support and coach data analysis by using and fostering the adequate OpEx tool (Data Door Analysis and Process Door Analysis)
Be a passionate and credible advocate for OpEx at the site
EDUCATION: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience and a BA/BS degree (or 3 years applicable experience and MS degree) in Engineering, Chemistry, Physical/Biological Sciences, Business, Integrated Supply Management, or related applicable discipline that will enable the team to meet its mission.
EXPERIENCE: The candidate must demonstrate:
Effective Project Management focused on timely deliverables
Change Management Agent, fostering Continuous Improvement Culture
Strong ability to lead, challenge and positively influence in an interactive team environment.
Effective colleague education, team facilitation, quantitative analysis, and communication skills.
Experience deploying elements of IMEx/Lean Management System.
Ability to understand the human element of site transformation activities. Understanding how to work effectively with site colleagues through the change process is required to be successful in this position.
Ability to comprehend and deploy the Pfizer Human Performance methodology to drive a Zero Defects culture.
Ability to effectively coach/mentor/influence colleagues and manage diverse relationships.
Six Sigma Yellow, Green or Black Belt certification is preferred.
This position could require frequent time in the manufacturing areas around production equipment and may also require weekend or off-shift work to support project demands and timelines.
