Pfizer Senior Scientist in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Pfizer Inflammation &Immunology (I&I) Department seeks to develop novel and first-in-class therapeutics for the treatment of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying novel targets from experimental and literature data, conducting and coordinating key confidence-in-rationale experiments around targets of interest, and driving the biology plan for portfolio or potential portfolio programs.
The successful candidate will:
Coordinate and personally generate decision-making data for programs. This position is approximately 60% lab based.
When not in the laboratory, keep current with the literature, attend and be an active participant in team settings including as a biology leader, and prepare and present crisp, concise presentations in governance meetings.
Be involved in self-driven novel assay development to reproduce literature data and/or as specific experimental needs arise for targets of interest
Interface with colleagues in other Pfizer departments such as Medicinal Chemistry and Biomedicine Design in a highly matrixed work environment to devise plans and procure resourcing for program advancement
Find opportunities to publish scientific data in high impact journals
Regularly, and without fail, record experimental data in electronic notebook form and in Pfizer databases
Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
Demonstrated expertise with the latest immunofluorescence and multi-color microscopy techniques as evidenced by recent, high impact publication(s)
Experience with basic molecular and cell biology techniques including RNA isolation, Taqman, and Western blotting
Expertise in analyzing tissue from animal models of fibrosis and human fibrotic liver specimens
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to be successful working in team settings
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and data analysis software (Graphpad Prism)
Experience working with bioinformaticians in the analysis of single cell RNASeq data
Experience with Visiopharm and RNAScope methodologies
