Pfizer Senior Scientist, Antibody Discovery for Target Validation in Cambridge, Massachusetts
BioMedicine Design's Endogenous Antibody Discovery Group is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead a team of scientists to design and drive antibody discovery campaigns to explore novel mechanisms of disease and to support Pfizer's early stage discovery efforts to develop 1st in class biotherapeutics. Working with a team of scientists, the candidate will be responsible for target evaluation in order to design optimal immunization strategies; screening of immune sera by ELISA and other methods in a high-throughput environment; generation and screening of hybridomas; and VH-VL molecular cloning of lead hybridoma candidates. The candidate will also learn and apply existing microfluidics-based single B cell screening methods in order to increase the number of selected antibodies and reduce timelines.
The successful candidate will have experience in some of the following areas:
Design of immunization strategies to elicit antibodies in rodents.Familiarity with dosing rodents.
Antibody discovery using hybridoma technology.Experience with primary B cells, including antibody isolation with in vitro methods, highly desirable.
High throughput screens such as protein ELISA, cell-based ELISA and flow cytometry.
Integrated tissue culture and screening automation.
Analysis of target protein structure and design of immunization strategies to elicit relevant immune titers
Determination of immune titers by ELISA and flow cytometry
Use of hybridoma technology and operation of integrated tissue culture automation system Implementation of established molecular cloning workflows Introduction of new methods identified to streamline and automate molecular cloning of antibodies
Optimizing transient expression of antibody clones
Preparation and delivery of detailed presentations, both written and verbal, to project teams
Attention to detail, effective communication and coordination of work in highly matrixed project team environment
PhD with 0-2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Master's Degree with 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or Bachelor's Degree with 6-8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Concentration of degree must be in Biochemistry, Biology, Immunology or related field.
Background in hybridoma generation with experience with immunizations of rodents critical.
Experience with VH-VL molecular cloning essential.
