Pfizer Senior Associate Scientist in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Pfizer Inflammation &Immunology (I&I) Department seeks to develop novel and first-in-class therapeutics for the treatment of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will develop and execute in vitro assays to support the I&I portfolio. The individual will work with multiple colleagues in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment. This is a bench position, with data generation and presentation of primary importance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate on Pfizer project teams and to seek development opportunities through various internal resources including courses and mentorship programs.
The successful candidate will:
Regularly generate experimental data against group goals. This is a lab-based position.
Carry out cell culture experiments including but not limited to screening compounds and/or following application of knockout/knockdown reagents to evaluate the role of a specific target
Be involved in novel assay development and in the evaluation untested commercial and internal reagents based on emerging portfolio needs
Regularly, and without fail, record experimental data in electronic notebook form.
Present data, in succinct fashion, in team settings
B.A. in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field, with at least 2 years' post-baccalaureate experience working in a laboratory setting.
Demonstrated experience with aseptic tissue culture methods and molecular and cell biology techniques including RNA isolation, Taqman, and Western blotting.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and data analysis software (Graphpad Prism)
Experience in immunofluorescence techniques and with high-content imaging
Prior experience working with liver tissue and/or hepatic cell types
Prior experience recording of data in Electronic Notebook form
