Job description

The Corporate Affairs, Health and Value and communication Lead provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure both shaping the environment and growing revenues through the execution of access plans, environment shaping plans, and orchestrating the full spectrum of activities needed to achieve business goals with strict adherence to compliance.

Work with GM, Regional and country corporate Affairs , H&V & commercial teams, and others to address country-specific external challenges and optimize healthcare system reform, intellectual property, and speed-to-market issues.

Support the cluster lead and country managers participation in local trade associations. Being an industry leader working individually and within industry associations on key public policy issues such as intellectual property and regulatory reform, reimbursement and overall speed to market access.

Corporate Affairs responsibilities

Provides strategic leadership across Upjohn Thailand in respect to Government, Patient Advocacy Group, Media, Industry Associations and other access related customers such as: NGOs, Think Tanks, Politicians, Professional Associations etc. to ensure North Africa countries meet their strategic business goals and financial objectives.

Government and Corporate Affairs:

Establishes and maintain positive relationships at all levels of government, public services and other authorities to help advance the organization's business interests. Analyzes and evaluates the impact of government policy and regulation on the organizations activities and objectives.

Develops a strong network (government and industry) to help Pfizer anticipate policy changes, analyze and better understand policies under development, and ultimately help design and implement strategies and plans that aim to improve the environment for the pharmaceutical industry and Pfizer.

Develops and implements key government advocacy programs including enhancing innovation and providing expertise, creating and driving Public Private Partnerships to enhance Pfizer image and strengthen Pfizer image as key partner to authorities in Healthcare discussions.

Industry Affairs: to design and implement strategies and plans which influence the agendas of trade associations in order to effectively address the main issues that Pfizer and the industry face in the said market

Brand Corporate Affairs :

  • To develop and execute Brand Public Affairs strategies and access tools/programs on priority brands in collaboration with the Country management teams.

  • Create and maintain win-win partnership with key stakeholders to enable the achievement of country Brand CA and Access strategies and ensure key stakeholders' insights are embedded in Brand Plans/PAP Strategies development by the Marketing team.

  • Develop relationships with key customers/payers in the cluster to enable achievement of product access goals.

Communication & Media Relations: Designs and implements strategies and plans to help drive both, environment and government policies in favor of Pfizer and the innovative industry, as well as to help increase awareness/positive public perception of Pfizer key therapeutic areas of expertise:

  • Develops and implement communication strategies and programs by developing and maintaining relations with media, opinion leaders and academics

  • Develops strong, mutual and long-term relation with medical press and other media channels based on developing awareness and patients' benefits including government officials and Key healthcare authorities and regulators.

  • Develops a database of trained KOLs and advocates who can deal with different media outlets professionally.

  • Provides the appropriate and consistent media coverage to marketing and medical activities

  • Identifies issues or needs with Key products from communications perspective i.e. brand awareness and market expansion through Direct To Consumer and media communication activities

  • Designs, develops, directs and controls organization's public relations strategy to enhance the organization's reputation with the public, the media and employees. Has ultimate accountability for the public relation's function. Patient Advocacy Affairs: to design and implement strategies and plans (targeting patient representative bodies/groups) which leverage 3rd party patient support within the demand realization process and the uptake of innovative products.

  • Interest Group Relations (neutralize negatives) Public Relations/Community Affairs: to design and implement strategies and plans (targeting local community stakeholders) those reinforce Pfizer as a good corporate citizen/neighbour and help to support the operations of the business.

  • Philanthropic Activities (including charitable donations /events )

  • VIP visit coordination (domestic and international) Anti-Counterfeit Program: to support Global Security and other business stakeholders to promote supply chain integrity and buying from authentic sources amongst healthcare community and customers. To fight counterfeit Crisis/Issue Management: to anticipate, prepare for and manage issues that may impact business; protect company reputation (product and corporate) and the continued achievement of business goals.

H&V Responsibilities

Mainly 1) stakeholder & market development, 2) value proposition and evidence development, 3) access strategy development, 4) coordinated execution with payers, and 5) anticipation of access environment reform and mitigation of business impact. In addition, he or she will be responsible to:

  • Develop strategies to support the business based on local access legislation, competitor pricing, and competitor market access

  • Provide input to business strategies through prioritization of local payer requirements and insights

  • Lead stakeholder mapping and engagement/interaction

  • Lead development and execution of integrated, innovative access plans, across all payer channels, that considers global deliverables and local requirements and payer dynamics

  • Guide adaptation of global strategy / tools according to each country's' access needs

  • Lead the development and promotion of win-win solutions for negotiations with payers

  • Proactively monitor external environment, customers and competitors to identify opportunities for protecting and improving access

  • Drive a high level of competitive pricing intelligence within H&V

  • Lead the development of optimal pricing strategies in order to maximize Pfizer revenue and access across all sectors of the industry

  • Guide the evaluation and analysis of available health economic data required to support market access and commercial strategies

  • Ensure participation in viable government and institution tenders.

  • Lead the generation of new evidence (e.g., real world data) to support the value proposition

  • Lead payer value message development, tailored to specific payers and their needs

  • Guide the full spectrum of activities associated with Health Technology Assessment submissions

  • Engage with policy makers at high level in order to influence healthcare policies as it relates to pricing, access and health outcomes, that affect the growth path of the pharmaceutical industry

  • People and performance management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An advanced Degree in Health Sciences (MPharm/ MBChB/ MSc), Commerce (MCom) or Business Administration (MBA)

  • Excellent knowledge of the healthcare system and its major players and decision-makers in North Africa is required.

  • A successful track record with 8-10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in Business, H&V or public affaires.
