Location : Pfizer Manufacturing Site, San Sebastian de los Reyes, Madrid

Duration: 24 months

Project Description

The Pfizer A3 project includes the design, construction and start-up of a new aseptic

production facility for biological drug products at its site in San Sebastian de los Reyes.

The project is currently in design phase, in preparation for construction start.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Safety Manager ensures that all

EHS activities on the project comply with and are carried out in accordance with Pfizer

EHS Standards and Guidelines. The Safety Manager is responsible for day to day

Health and Safety Management on the project including Contractor Health and Safety

management during construction, liaising with the Construction Management team

Safety Lead.

Role Description

• Represent EHS across all disciplines within the Safety, Health, Occupational

Hygiene and Environmental area, passing issue raised onto others in EHS

team for assistance or information.

• Advises on and implements best practises in all aspects of Safety, Health and

Environment matters in construction management, equipment design and

operation. Provides input on all aspects of company policy and health & safety

legislation or guidelines on the project site.

• Ensures that all EHS issues are addressed through all phases of the project

life cycle.

• Acts as the focal point for interface with the Sustainability and Process Safety

subject matter experts engaged to advise on project activities.

• Ensures that Health & Safety management for construction activities on the

project comply with the corporate and site Health & Safety management


• Ensures that all activities within this responsibility are undertaken on time to

allow the smooth progression throughout the Project from Initiation to


• Ensures that all appropriate EHS staff and other internal/external bodies are

kept fully aware of the Project, including project scope and implications, project

program and project changes.

• Participates and helps arrange adequate EHS support for any design reviews

and assessments required, ensuring that an appropriate team is used, and that

all risk assessments are completed and recorded, including but not limited to:

• Assists the process representative in the preparation of all EHS documentation

necessary for putting the plant into operation

• Monitors and reports EHS performance including incident and accident



A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety supervision

Fluency in Spanish and English

Self-driven, well-structured and organized.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems.

An ability to deal with process change and implement new effective processes

Knowledge in GMP and Pharmaceutical industry
